Die Burg ist seit 600 Jahren im Besitz derselben Familie, der Nachfahren der Gefährten Wilhelms des Eroberers. Es wurde ursprünglich auf den Ruinen einer noch älteren Burg erbaut. Die Hauptflügel wurden im 13. und 14. Jahrhundert erbaut. Eine prächtige Granittreppe begrüßt die Gäste, als sie zur Tür hereinkommen. Es wurde vom Architekten François Gabriel erbaut, einem Vorfahren von Ange-Jacques Gabriel, dem Architekten des Schlosses von Versailles.
